John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America president and chief executive, told Dow Jones that the Hyundai Equus-based car has been getting a good response from dealers and customers.

Dow Jones said the new flagship is expected to be similar to the Equus, which sells in the South Korean market for US$75,000.

The vehicle’s name, pricing, packaging and other specifications haven’t been finalised, but is expected to launch in the US beginning in late 2010.

The two Genesis models currently sold in the US – the sedan and coupe – have been aggressively priced versus competitors and received good reviews.
