Hyundai is to add a third shift at its US plant in Alabama, creating nearly 900 new jobs.
Over 3,000 people will then be employed at the factory in Montgomery and the extra shift will add about 20,000 units to its annual capacity.

The move to three shifts will begin in September with hiring starting this summer.
The plant began producing the redesigned Sonata in December 2009 and the sedan has consistently been Hyundai’s best-selling vehicle, around 55,000 last year, or 33% of the company’s US sales. The Elantra, with 44,000 sales in 2011, has been assembled at HMMA since October 2010 and, together with production from Korea, accounts for 31% of sales.
The announcement of additional US production capacity came after Hyundai set new sales records there in March.
