The technical centres for powertrains at Anna and auto manufacturing in Marysville will train engineers, equipment service technicians and line workers.

Honda has started construction on a new 160,000 sq ft building near its existing operations in Marysville to house the training facility, a heritage centre and office space for a new shared services company formed in April to reorganise existing support services in North America. This $35m operation is scheduled to open in autumn 2014.

The heritage centre will be open to the public, and will show off Honda’s 36-year history in Ohio – it announced plans in 1977, opened a Gold Wing motorbike plant in 1979 and started building the Accord in 1982.
