Honda has released photos of a production ready looking CR-V ‘concept’ ahead of the redesigned, fourth-generation SUV’s global debut at the Orange County International Auto Show in Anaheim, California, in September. US sales will start by the end of the year, American Honda Motor said.
“The 2012 CR-V Concept introduces the exterior styling for the more sophisticated and dynamic design of the upcoming production model,” said the US unit’s sales chief John Mendel. “Long considered the benchmark for packaging and user-friendly design in the small SUV segment, the all-new CR-V will offer an added dimension of style, amazing interior versatility and Honda’s latest technologies for convenience and refinement.”

The 2012 CR-V will have a more fuel-efficient engine, reduced body weight and a new interior with more room and lower cargo floor.
The current CR-V is sold in over 160 countries throughout North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. For the US, it is manufactured in Ohio at Honda of America Manufacturing’s East Liberty plant.
Honda UK said the redesigned CR-V would not go on sale in Europe until autumn 2012 and could not immediately confirm if it would be built at its plant in Swindon, England, like the current model.
