American Honda Motor is recalling a further 104,871 cars to replace potentially faulty Takata air bag inflators.
According to the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected models are 2001 Accord and 2004 Civic cars and 2008 Pilot SUVs.
The recall is an expansion of an earlier campaign.
“In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver side frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the vehicle occupants,” NHTSA said.
Dealers will replace the inflators.
