Goodyear may raise prices on US and Canadian consumer tyres in June by 6% according to US media reports.
The reports – citing higher raw material and transportation costs – also note Akron saying it might equally have to increase charges as rubber and material prices rise.
Raw materials are thought to be increasing by around 15% this quarter compared to the previous three months.
Detroit media also say Michelin North America would hike its prices by up to 6% next month.
Last week, Goodyear narrowed its first quarter loss to US$47m due to higher demand and says that but for a one-time charge it would have notched up a profit of US$52m.
