General Motors plans to expand and spend US$37.5m at its Lansing Delta Township (LDT) plant.

The Detroit News said the company is planning to build “several body shop and general assembly additions to support operations” at the plant.

Plant spokesperson Erin Davis said: “GM is developing a business case for a potential future investment at LDT Assembly. An investment would fund facility improvements aimed at strengthening the plant’s manufacturing capability.”

For the expansion, GM is seeking a tax abatement of about $2m over 12 years from Lansing. After the abatement, the expansion is expected to generate $4m in new taxes over the period.

The plant manufactures Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse SUVSs.
