The workers were laid off in the second week of March because of the strike against plant supplier American Axle and Manufacturing but the plant has enough parts on hand to employ the first shift, a GM spokeswoman told the Associated Press (AP). She noted, however, that about 1,000 second shift workers would remain laid off.
The plant builds the GMC Envoy, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Saab 9-7X and Isuzu Ascender, the report added.
