GM is reporting US calendar year total sales for its four brands up 21% to 2,202,927 vehicles, with retail sales up 16% for the year.

The US automaker says its four brands sold 118,435 more vehicles this year than with eight brands in 2009 and maintains it will gain total and retail market share for the year.
 
“Our sales this year reflect the impact of GM’s new business model,” GM US vice president sales operations Don Johnson said.

“The consistency of results we achieved demonstrates the focus on our brands, dealers and customers and how we compete aggressively for every sale, every day.”

GM dealers also reported 223,932 total sales in December, a 16% increase from a year ago for the company’s four brands. The gain was driven by retail sales, which GM said were 27% higher compared to a year ago.
