General Motors has said it will have to increase production of some of its North American models after a summer when inventories have been at unsustainably low levels.
A spokesman said four models in particular – the Chevrolet Equinox and Camaro, Buick LaCrosse, and Cadillac SRX – had outperformed expectations and the company was examining ways to boost output.
Reuters said GM would also look for a second production plant for the Equinox, which is now assembled at the CAMI Automotive plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, which GM operates with Suzuki.
