Both Henrik Fisker, CEO and founder of the firm, and US vice president Joe Biden, a former Delaware senator, will be at the plant in Wilmington on Tuesday when, according to the White House, Biden will make a major announcement about the plant’s future.
The Wilmington factory was closed in July and GM now wants to sell it to help repay its creditors. The plant last built the Saturn Sky, Pontiac Solstice and Opel GT sports cars.
Fisker has previously announced that it wants to build 100,000 Nina EVs a year in the US but has not said where it would be built. The car is expected to sell for around US$47,000.
