Faurecia says it has put in place a manual process to avoid a repetition of last week’s North American plant incident, with a permanent solution due to take effect shortly.
Nine employees were taken to hospital as a precaution following the incident that Faurecia described as a “hydraulic line malfunction,” at its Northwood, Ohio factory that supplies Chrysler with door systems.

“After analysing the situation, consulting the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and cleaning up the plant, a manual solution was put in place for applying grease to the door modules during assembly,” said Faurecia in a statement sent to just-auto.
“This will soon be replaced by a permanent solution that requires low pressure to dispense the grease. The plant resumed work at approximately 12 pm on Tuesday [7 September] and was able to ensure continuous supply to its customer, Chrysler’s Toledo North Assembly Plant.
“The safety of employees is paramount to Faurecia and we strive to continually improve all aspects of our operations.”
The Chrysler plant manufacturers the Dodge Nitro and Jeep Liberty (Cherokee) models in Toledo.
