Faurecia has announced that it continues investment and expansion in the Southeast US with the addition of a Madison, Miss.-based plant to support the production of seats for Nissan.
The 180,000-square-foot plant supplies seat systems for the Nissan Altima, Armada SUV, Titan pickup truck and new NV commercial van. It operates on a just-in-time (JIT) basis to deliver complete front and rear seats to Nissan’s Canton, Miss., assembly plant.
“The expansion into Madison and throughout the Southeast has been critical to serving our customers’ needs as well as to growing our business and securing future opportunities,” said Rich Kolpasky, president of Faurecia Automotive Seating North America. “Faurecia is eager to expand its business with Nissan.”
Faurecia’s customers in the Southeast now include BMW, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Mercedes, Nissan and Volkswagen. Recent additions to the company’s footprint include a plant in Tuscaloosa, Ala. to supply interior and exterior systems components to Nissan and an emissions control technologies plant in Chattanooga for Volkswagen. A new just-in-time seating plant will soon launch in Cottondale, Ala., for Mercedes-Benz, the company says.
