Edmunds.com has predicted automakers will sell 1,155,866 new cars and light trucks this month for an estimated Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate (SAAR) of 16.7m.
The projected sales will be a 23.1% decrease from December 2014 but a 14.4% increase from January 2014.

Earlier, Kelley Blue Book said it expected a 12.9% year on year rise to 1.14m units in January and SAAR estimated at 16.5m. It also expected a slight downturn due to the then forecast east coast blizzard (which did not hit New York City as much as expected but nonetheless prompted a transportation ban and unprecedented closure of the subway system).
