Car Charging Group, a US provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging services, says it has closed its acquisition of EVPass, which specialises in building destination and location networks for EV charging, as well as its central New York Destination Location Network from Synapse Sustainability Trust.
CarCharging now owns and operates the EV charging stations formerly operated by EVPass. The EVPass charging stations were deployed in partnership with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and are located throughout central New York, including Syracuse, Rome and surrounding areas.

Locations include shopping malls, such as DestinyUSA, higher education institution, UNY-ESF and venues featuring the JFK Arena in Rome and the Oncenter Convention Center in Syracuse, as well as 39 downtown commuter parking locations in Syracuse.
CarCharging says it will also administer the pending grant awarded to EVPass, which includes installing EV charging stations throughout Upstate New York.
“Electric vehicle sales continue to set records,” said CarCharging CEO, Michael Farkas.
“March, 2013, was the best month of sales ever for the Nissan Leaf and Tesla’s Model S sold more than any other EV. We intend to support the EV market by expanding the availability of EV charging services, not only in New York, but throughout the country.”
Both CarCharging and EVPass use EV charging stations made by ChargePoint, which provides 240 volts with 32 amps of power to recharge an EV’s battery.
