GM’s North America President Mark Reuss has told just-auto that the Cadillac and Chevrolet brands are set for a raft of electrified products.
“It will be different applications and systems for the two brands, but it will be exciting for both,” he said.

Reuss said that there will be hybrids as well as full battery electric vehicles for both brands in the long-term, but Chevrolet will lead on the introduction of full battery electric vehicles.
Reuss maintains that the Chevrolet Spark continues to do very well in the marketplace and that the second generation Volt range extender electric vehicle will build the companies electrified sales further. “As we improve the vehicles and make them more attractive for rational buyers – with cost of ownership and cost of the car coming down – sales build,” he said. “The Volt continues to grow with word of mouth and experience. Third party data shows that Volt owners are more satisfied than for any other car in the market and that’s a pretty good basis to come from.”
The Chevrolet Spark EV is only on sale in a few States, but Reuss says interest in the vehicle has been high. “You can get around 82 miles of range on a full charge and it is reasonably priced. But we are going to have more [product] entries to come.”
Reuss said the new electrified models from GM are due over the next two to three years.
He also told just-auto that manufacturing capacity for the electrified vehicles push is in place and that there is plenty of flexibility to adjust output if necessary.
