Chinese automaker BYD says it is to launch in an electric car in the US market this year.

The four-door all-electric car, called e6, has a range of more than 300 kilometres on a single electric charge, the company claims.
“We are in the process of signing up dealers,” BYD business manager Fred Ni told a press conference at the Detroit Show.
Ni also said the car would be ”very affordable’ and that the company is considering a lease option for US customers.
Ni said BYD Auto aims to sell several hundred vehicles a year in its initial year of marketing in the United States.
