BorgWarner has announced a deal to supply variable cam timing (VCT) and engine timing systems for Jaguar Land Rover’s new Ingenium I4 engine line.
Based on a configurable and flexible architecture to improve manufacturing efficiency and calibration, the engines deliver high performance, reduced emissions and improved fuel economy, the supplier said in a statement.
BW’s compact torsional assist (TA) phaser technology provides reliable variable cam timing by actuating rapidly, resulting in improved performance, while its chain and tensioner systems deliver lower friction and improve wear resistance.
BW parts are used in variants of JLR’s new two litre, I4 diesel engines and are planned for future petrol engines.
“With our contribution to Jaguar Land Rover’s new [engine programme], we strengthen our position as a leading supplier of engine timing systems and VCT technologies and support global automakers using flexible and modular platforms,” said Joe Fadool, president and general manager, BorgWarner Morse.
“[We are] very proud to expand [our] successful partnership with JLR.”
