BorgWarner has named the former Americas chief of Siemens VDO, John Sanderson, as president and general manager of its transmission systems drivetrain group and a vice president of the parent company.

Sanderson, 56, succeeds Bernd Matthes who has been appointed to the newly created position of president of transmission joint ventures, and continues as a vice president of the parent.


“We are excited to welcome John to the BorgWarner organisation to continue the growth of our transmission systems business,” said BW chief Timothy Manganello. “His proven track record in the automotive industry will strengthen our company’s leadership and be of great value to our team as we continue to grow this important piece of our business.”


Sanderson was most recently president and CEO, Americas, for Siemens VDO starting in 2000, responsible for growing component sales organically and through mergers and acquisitions with strong focus upon technology leadership and strict financial discipline.


He served in a variety of senior roles for Siemens including vice president and general manager, powertrain gasoline systems.
