Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“From both a technology and geography standpoint, this acquisition is an excellent strategic fit,” said BW chairman and CEO Timothy Manganello.

“Combining ENSA’s cooler technology with BorgWarner’s technology leadership in engine air management and products such as turbochargers and EGR valves will provide operational and engineering synergies. Similarly, the acquisition creates additional market opportunities in both passenger and commercial vehicle applications, and enhances BorgWarner’s ability to serve customers globally.”

Cooled EGR helps reduce NOx and particulate matter emissions in diesel and gasoline-direct injection (GDI) engines. The combination of ENSA’s EGR cooler technology with BorgWarner’s EGR valve and controls expertise will allow BorgWarner to offer customers complete systems such as an integrated EGR valve, cooler, by-pass valve, and tubes, in one package, the supplier said.

“The acquisition strengthens BorgWarner’s strategic position to address the technology challenges of optimising the air and exhaust system for lower emissions, improved fuel economy and performance,” BW added.
