BMW is re-introducing a four-cylinder engine to the US for the first time in since 1999.
Like the company’s latest three litre turbo I6, the new two litre engine will combine twin-scroll turbocharging with high-pressure direct-injection and valvetronic intake control. Developing 240hp, it is more powerful than company’s normally aspirated three litre I6.

The I4 will arrive later this year. The introduction is part of BMW’s so called ‘efficientdynamics’ strategy to lower emissions across its range of cars.
