The US Big Three are planning to temporarily halt production of full-size pickup trucks because of weak demand, according to a media report.

Chrysler, GM and Ford will all shut down production of the trucks, The Wall Street Journal reported in its online edition.
Citing unnamed sources, the report said Chrysler plans to halt production at plants in Warren, Mich. and Fenton, Mo. before Christmas, and keep them closed throughout January.
GM will shut three pickup truck plants for the Christmas holiday and for two weeks in January to prevent oversupply, the report said.
Ford says some plants will likely be scaled back or shut in the first quarter, but it has no specific plans for January, according to the report.
Industry pickup truck sales tumbled in November, leading to vehicles backing up on dealer lots. The Dodge Ram pickup stood at 120 days supply, up from 117 in November, according to Autodata.
