Heated and cooled seat specialist Amerigon has acquired the 15% minority interest in its technology development subsidiary, BSST LLC, plus the reversionary rights to the technology previously owned by Lon Bell, former chief technical officer of Amerigon and former president of BSST.

The transaction, effective 31 December, 2010, involved a cash payment of approximately US$3.4m for Bell’s BSST membership interest and reversionary rights.

BSST is now a 100% owned subsidiary of Amerigon and Bell, who retired on 31 December, is currently a consultant to Amerigon and remains a member of the board.

Amerigon chairman Oscar Marx said: “With Bell’s retirement, we made the decision to unify the ownership of BSST under Amerigon and to solidify our rights to its technology.”
