American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings on Wednesday announced it was now manufacturing and assembling transfer cases for Tata Motors’ luxury car unit Jaguar Land Rover.
“AAM is pleased to launch our relationship with Jaguar Land Rover in Europe, supporting its vehicle programme requirements with our global engineering and manufacturing expertise,” said AAM’s Europe president Steven Proctor in a statement.

AAM and Jaguar Land Rover collaborated on the manufacturing of the proven design of the transfer case used in the Defender. Start of regular production began last month at AAM’s manufacturing facility in Scotstoun, Glasgow, Scotland.
Most auto component makers do not announce the start of production for OEM contracts like this until well after supply first commences.
