Lifan reportedly is planning to build a US$150m car factory in Uruguay.

Infobae said the new plant will create 500 jobs within three years.

Industry minister Roberto Kreimerman said Lifan 320 and 620 models might be exported to Brazil and other members of the Mercosur trading bloc.

A January report from just-auto‘s Brazilian correspondent said Lifan would refurbish an existing assembly plant in Uruguay and build a new plant in Brazil.
