Al-Futtaim sold a total of 31,000 Toyota and Lexus cars in 2002 and forecasts a sales increase of between three and five percent for 2003.

Toyota and Lexus achieved a 31% share in the UAE car market in 2002, al-Futtaim Motors managing director Colin Leitch said. Sales of Toyota and Lexus accounted for 45% of the total sales of Japanese cars in the UAE in 2002.

Al-Futtaim Motors reported a 10% year-on-year increase in sales in January and February 2003 as Toyota Camry cars [built in Australia] accounted for the largest part of the sales over the two months.
