Automated production systems supplier, VDL Steelweld, has secured its largest ever order to provide production automation at one of Jaguar Land Rover’s West Midlands plants.

No financial details are available surrounding the order with VDL manager Darren Dowsett confining himself to noting: “We are extremely pleased to have won this prestigious order.”

VDL Steelweld, part of the Dutch-owned VDL Groep, has completed a number of projects for Jaguar Land Rover, including production systems for the all-aluminium Jaguar XJ at the company’s plant at Castle Bromwich, Birmingham.

Other automotive clients for VDL Steelweld include BMW, Ford and Volvo.
 
“This order, along with another one for BMW’s Mini plant in Oxford, means we are looking to expand our UK operations by recruiting skilled project managers and project engineers,” added Dowsett.

VDL Groep, with its head office in Eindhoven in the Netherlands, is an international company focused on the development, production and sales of semi-manufactured products, buses & coaches and finished products.

The group has around 7,000 employees and consists of 79 subsidiaries spread across 16 countries.
