Duncan Aldred, the current chairman and managing director of Vauxhall Motors and CEO of Opel Ireland, is to take up a new role within General Motors’ HQ in Detroit. The company notes further executive moves in the same media statement.
Aldred, 43, will become US vice president of Buick-GMC, responsible for the US market Sales, Service and Marketing of these brands. His successor at Vauxhall Motors and Opel Ireland is yet to be announced.

GM has also announced the early retirement of Don Johnson, its US market vice president of Chevrolet Sales and Service. Johnson, 56, has had a GM career lasting 33 years in North America, Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. His successor is Brian Sweeney, currently US vice president of Buick-GMC Sales and Service. His new role is US vice president of Chevrolet, with responsibiliy for Sales, Service and Marketing in the US.
All three changes are effective 1 March 2014.
