British van maker LDV has appointed Plant Installations of Coventry to manage the logistics movement of its recently acquired Daewoo tooling from Poland to Birmingham.

Last month, LDV chief executive Allan Amey announced that the company had acquired the intellectual property assets and tooling for its new model programme and said some 6,250 tonnes of tools and facilities would be moved – in 250 truckloads over eight weeks – from Poland to LDV’s headquarters in Birmingham.

Amey said the £1 million contract was put out to international tender and he was extremely pleased that a West Midlands-based company was able to meet the full criteria for the project.

“The shipments from Poland commence this week and we will have all of the tooling at our manufacturing plant by the middle of November,” Amey said.
