DaimlerChrysler has opted to export its redesigned 2008 minivans to Europe from North America rather than manufacture them at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria, as it has done with the current and two previous generation models.

Chrysler unveiled the new Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Caravan minivans at the Detroit motor show this week.
DaimlerChrysler UK spokesperson Jackie Allard told just-auto that all of the new models will now be built in North America.
Five models will be available for North American markets, including the Grand Caravan SE and Grand Caravan SXT, the Town & Country LX, the Town & Country Touring and the Town & Country Limited.
DC UK could not say which models would come to Europe. However, a report from UK journalists at the Detroit show launch said the new range, badged only as Chrysler models, would reach Europe early in 2008. The Grand Voyager name used outside North America would be retained along with a 2.8-litre [VM] diesel engine option.
Magna Stey’s Graz plant in Austria would then concentrate on building export versions of the Chrysler 300 saloon and wagon, plus the Jeep Commander and Grand Cherokee.
Chrysler Group will build the new models only at its Windsor (Ontario) plant and St Louis South assembly plants.
The new redesigned minivans have over 30 new features, including a rotating second row of seats.
