The union representing workers at Aston Martin has welcomed the pending sale of the famous sportscar maker to a consortium led by UK-based vehicle development and motorsport group Prodrive.
Ford on Monday (12 March) confirmed the sale, which valued AM at £479m, with the US-based automaker retaining a GBP40m stake.
The Transport and General Workers Union said the key criteria for the deal to sell Aston Martin should be keeping manufacturing in the UK and maximising jobs.
Aston is based at Gaydon, in Warwickshire, adjacent to Ford’s Land Rover development centre and a museum and conference centre the automaker also acquired at the same time as its Premier Automotive Group bought the SUV maker.
