BMW’s UK unit has begun its usual new model year tweaks, including adding two new versions to its X3 small SUV line: the xDrive30d and xDrive35d and better spec and more versions of the 5GT.
Both have a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard; the three-litre turbodiesel 30d produces 258hp and 560Nm of torque to accelerate from zero to 62mph in 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 130mph with CO2 emissions of 159g/km and combined fuel consumption of 47.1mpg.

The flagship 35d, also an oil burner, produces 313hp and 630Nm of torque, taking it from zero to 62mph in 5.8. It emits 162g/km of CO2 and has combined fuel consumption of 46.3mpg.
Enhanced specifications include metallic paint, the eight-speeder and dynamic stability control with extended features. A 35d SE variant adds 18-inch V-spoke light alloy wheels and a sport leather steering wheel and the M Sport version adds sport automatic transmission and leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles.
Meanwhile, the 5 GT now has enhanced standard specification with ‘professional’ navigation system, BMW Assist, electrically adjustable front seats with driver memory, voice control, xenon headlights with headlight wash and remote tailgate operation as standard.
September will also see the launch of M Sport versions with 19-inch light alloy V-spoke wheels, front sports seats, door sill finishers, aerodynamic bodystyling, sport multi-function leather steering wheel, sport suspension, high-gloss shadowline exterior trim, dark chrome tailpipes and anthracite headlining.
