The UK-specification saloon differs in detail from the US-market sedan and shares the same European design of other Corolla body styles.
The new model is built at the Turkish Sakarya plant alongside the estate, which until this month was built in Japan.
The UK Corolla saloon is offered with two petrol engines – a 1.4-litre 97bhp or a 1.6-litre 110bhp VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent). A two-litre 89bhp D-4D common rail diesel engine is also available but there is no automatic transmission option with any engine.
The saloon is offered in two grades, T2 and T3. The T2 is the entry level model with driver, passenger and front side airbags, single disc CD player, remote central locking, immobiliser and colour keyed bumpers and door handles.

By GlobalDataThe T3 grade adds air conditioning, colour keyed side mouldings, 15-inch five spoke alloy wheels with locking wheelnuts and front fog lamps.
The saloon shares the same body dimensions as the estate, which is slightly longer than the hatchback models, at 4,385mm (+205mm) due to slightly longer front and rear overhangs.
