Tata Motors’ Jaguar Land Rover said 250 new jobs had been created at its Halewood plant as it announced plans to build the Discovery Sport to replace the ageing Freelander.
The additional jobs will take the workforce to 4,750 – more than treble the number employed there in 2010.

The company has spent GBP200m to launch the new model. This takes the total amount spent at Halewood over the last four years to almost GBP500m.
A GBP45m Aida servo press line was installed in March along with 260 new robots, laser welding and new equipment monitoring and reporting systems.
