Tata’s Indica Vista EV, the electric car developed by the Indian manufacturer’s UK-based European Technical Centre, is being readied for production at an assembly facility in the country.
A limited number will roll out of the West Midlands facility this month and will be supplied to selected customers, chosen from the public working in and around the local region, for trial and technology evaluation.

By the end of the first quarter 2011, Tata said a total of 25 Vista EV vehicles will be supplied for the 12 month trials programme.
Earlier this week the UK’s Transport Department announced that the car was one of nine that qualified for government subsidies and will receive a grant of 25% of the purchase price up to a maximum of GBP5,000 (US$7,800).
The EV recently won two awards at the Royal Automobile Club’s Brighton to London Future Car Challenge. It is a fully-electric four-seater with a range of 110 miles and a top speed of 71mph.
It will be launched in the UK and other European markets in early summer 2011 and will initially be available to fleet customers in limited numbers ahead of a more comprehensive launch in 2012.
