Infiniti Asia and Oceania Operations managing director Allen Lu has reportedly let slip the name and build location of a previously unknown future model.
Lu is quoted by the portal GoAuto.com.au as naming the ‘QX30’ as an additional vehicle, to be introduced after the launch of the Q30. The latter is due to be manufactured at Nissan’s Sunderland plant in England’s northeast from 2015. It might also be built in China and at a new plant at Aguascalientes in Mexico but for now, that remains speculative.

The Q30 is to use the same MFA platform as the Mercedes-Benz A-, B-, CLA- and GLA-Class models, so it seems logical that the QX30 would be closely based on the GLA crossover, a vehicle with which it would also compete. The BMW X1 and Audi Q3 would be other rivals for the QX30.
“We are building to widen the brand’s offerings, starting with the entry-level Q30 and QX30 … to mainly attract the younger customers,” Lu is quoted as telling the Australian media at the ongoing Nissan 360 event in southern California.
GoAuto.com.au’s article goes on to state that “…the QX30 will be built at Nissan’s award-winning Sunderland production facility in England”.
