UK vehicle technology company Prodrive and Italian transmission specialist Graziano have announced plans to jointly develop the next generation of advanced automated manual transmissions and driveline systems for high performance cars. The collaboration will combine Graziano’s engineering and gearbox/drivetrain component production with Prodrive’s system design, control, automation, calibration and refinement expertise. Initially the two companies will start developing a new high capacity automated transmission concept for low to medium volume applications where high levels of refinement and driveability are critical. “The intention is to create a new benchmark in performance car transmissions that are specifically designed to be automated,” said Prodrive group managing director Nick Fry. “The co-operation with Graziano will allow customers the opportunity to give their vehicles the characteristics and advanced technology that are consistent with their brand.” Prodrive and Graziano will share resources at their operations across the world, as well as intellectual property, engineering and commercial opportunities, however, there will be no rationalisation of resources. Don’t let policy changes catch you off guard. Stay proactive with real-time data and expert analysis.
