Jaguar today announces retail price cuts across its complete range for the 2001 model year. The reductions in recommended retail prices, effective immediately, are additional to the package of specification improvements announced last week. The combination of price cuts and feature enhancement represents an average improvement in value to the customer of 8.5 per cent, reaffirming Jaguar’s reputation for unrivalled value for money. On the top-of-the-range Daimler Super V8, the value improvement reaches 10.6 per cent.

The improvement in value ranges from £2,430 for the entry level S-TYPE 3.0 V6 to £6,710 for the flagship Daimler Super V8. The anticipated best seller in the XJ range, the XJ 3.2 Sport, receives a total value improvement of £3,370.

Importantly, Jaguar is offering substantial reductions in actual retail prices on all models in the range. Jaguar prices now start from as little as £26,700 (on-the-road) for the S-TYPE 3.0 V6, while the larger, V8-powered XJ Series saloon range now starts at £35,950 (on-the-road) with a choice of the ‘traditional’ XJ 3.2 Executive or ‘dynamic’ XJ 3.2 Sport. At these new lower prices, Jaguar enjoys a substantial price advantage over all imported rivals.

On the highly successful Jaguar XK sports car range, there is a value improvement of up to £4,755. The XK8 Coupe, for example, now has a recommended retail price of £48,700 on-the-road, only £50 above its launch price in 1996, despite very substantial specification improvements in the past four years. For the 2001 model year, the Jaguar XK delivers world-leading safety technology and further enhancements to feature specification.

While Jaguar continues to enjoy healthy demand and market leadership in the UK, there is evidence that uncertainty on pricing is undermining customer confidence. Jaguar’s overriding aim is therefore to reassure customers that it is responsive to their needs.

Andrew Lester, Jaguar’s Director of UK Operations, said,

“Over the past few years, we have continuously improved the feature specification of all our models, year on year. Today, the combination of real world price cuts and further standard feature enhancements for the 2001 model year reaffirms Jaguar’s long standing reputation for unrivalled value for money.”
