Nissan’s UK car plant in Sunderland, northeast England, will host an open day this weekend (30 November, 2013) to recruit maintenance staff.

The automaker said it needed more plant maintenance help as it gears up to produce the redesigned Qashqai and output of the Note, fully redesigned earlier this year.

Personnel manager Adrian Smart said: “[The] plant is preparing for the company’s biggest car launch in many years.

“The maintenance department plays a crucial role in supporting 24-hour production at the plant and this year has already supported the successful launches of the Leaf EV and the new Note, which have been very well received by customers.

“We are committed to developing our own staff through our apprenticeship programme and these additional experienced staff will also play an important role in supporting the next generation of staff.”

The open day will be held at the automaker’s training facility in the Gateshead College Skills Academy for Sustainable Manufacturing and Innovation.
