Graham Hoare took over as powertrain executive director at Ford’s Dunton Technical Centre today (1 March).
Hoare replaced Malcolm Thomas, who has retired, and recently returned to Britain from Dearborn where he was Ford’s director of powertrain research and advanced engineering for four years.
His new role brings closer together petrol and diesel powertrain engineering at Dunton and Dagenham, in Essex, and he will oversee Dunton’s moves to establish itself as a centre of excellence for powertrain and commercial vehicles.
The redesigned 2006 European Transit van was developed at Dunton and will be assembled at Southampton with diesel engines supplied from Dagenham.
In the US Hoare was responsible for areas including research, development and planning of petrol and diesel engines for North America; hydrogen internal combustion engines and transmission and driveline systems.
