Japanese automotive component conglomerate Calsonic Kansei is understood to be considering a further round of redundancies at its European headquarters in Llanelli, Wales, The Western Mail newspaper reported at the weekend.

Last year the company, which is one of Carmarthenshire county’s biggest private sector employers with a workforce of more than 1,000, announced 150 job cuts at its UK operation, including 87 at the Llanelli heat exchange operation.
The company has 52 plants worldwide and a workforce of 80,000.
In the last three years it has experienced a 23% decline in sales and this year aims to achieve cost savings of £14 million.
Across the UK the company employs 1,600, with other plants at Sunderland, County Durham and Washington in the north of England.
The Sunderland plant is to close with production being transferred to Shildon in County Durham.
