The
worldwide recall of 299,335 Mitsubishi Chariot-based minivans made since September
1998 includes 35,437 Space Wagon and 7,237 Space Runner-badged versions sold in
Europe.

Even though no faults have been reported on the Continent or amongst the 2,808
UK Space Wagons (300 still in importer stock), the cars will be recalled to
check for small cracks around the fuel tank mounting plates.

The Europe-only Space Runner will also be checked for damage to a valve on
the upper side of the tank as a result of the tank coming loose.

Mitsubishi distributors will write to owners once repair parts become available.
