BMW’s
new Mini goes on sale in the UK on Saturday 7 July. The first all-new Mini since
1959 will initially be sold in 90 bhp entry level form, to be unveiled at next
week’s Geneva Motor Show, and a 115bhp COOPER version, revealed at last year’s
British International Motor Show. The 163 bhp Cooper S follows in early 2002.

The Mini range will be sold in the UK ahead of any other market, butwill be
available worldwide by the end of Q1, 2002.

The car is being produced at the BMW Oxford factory, previously known as Rover’s
Cowley plant, which has a capacity of 100,000 a year.

Approximately 20,000 will be sold annually at UK BMW dealerships who will have
dedicated showrooms and specialist sales staff.
