Tata Group’s Jaguar Land Rover has created two new roles on its executive committee to support an increased focus on research and development and to help develop new products.
Wolfgang Epple, programmes director, will move to the newly-created position of director, research and technology. He will also coordinate the National Automobile Innovation Centre at the University of Warwick and will be appointed as a senior fellow of the University of Warwick Manufacturing Group.
Bob Joyce, who headed JLR’s engineering for the past 10 years, will move to a new position of director, product creation and delivery. Part of his new role will be to ensure “cross-functional alignment” across the company.
BMW veteran Wolfgang Ziebart becomes JLR’s new group engineering director, replacing Joyce. Ziebart, who spent 23 years at BMW and was in charge of product development, will be responsible for the company’s global engineering operations.
