Honda UK’s share of a 646,000-unit global recall of Jazz/Fit models and derivatives is 171,372 2002-2008 model year Jazz hatchbacks (built in both Japan and, later, China) which will be called back to check the master power window switch.
“The master window switch in the driver’s door can malfunction when exposed to large amounts of liquid ingress, for example if the window is left open frequently or for long periods during heavy rain. Water and other fluids can cause the window switch’s circuit board to malfunction and prevent opening or closing of the window. In rare cases, the circuit board can overheat causing melting or smoke or, potentially, fire,” the automaker said on Tuesday, noting there had been no reported cases of a switch fault setting fire to a UK Jazz.

“Not all of the cars recalled will need a replacement switch. However, all recalled cars will be fitted with a waterproof skirt to prevent further water entry,” the UK unit said.
Owners affected by the recall would be contacted “as soon as possible”.
