Automotive suppliers Hella KG Hueck & Co. in Lippstadt, and automotive electronics specialist Micron Electronic Devices AG, based in Neutraubling near Regensburg, have founded a new joint venture company.

The company, in which Hella and Micron will each hold a half share, will be based in Neutraubling. The company will trade under the name Hella-Micron Engineering GmbH and commence business this month.
One aim of this new joint venture is to further strengthen and expand the co-operation between the two companies in the area of hardware and software development for automotive electronics, a co-operation which has already been going strong for a number of years.
The integration of the electronics expertise of both partners is in keeping with the increase in importance of software in electronic systems. This move also increases Hella’s presence with vehicle manufacturers in southern Germany, and makes quick service and extremely short reaction times possible.
The joint venture will deal exclusively with projects acquired by Hella in relation to vehicle manufacturers located in southern Germany.

By GlobalDataHella and Micron are aiming to build up the joint company by mid-2006, initially with around 25 employees. The engineers should be developing competitive vehicle body electronic products independently within a relatively short time, as well as providing on-site customer engineering services accompanying development work.
Both Hella and Micron are following the same approach towards business development. For Hella, the newly established business is a further component of the company’s own ‘Network Value’ strategy.
In accordance with the aim of “co-operation not concentration”, Hella works with independent suppliers and service providers, offering vehicle manufacturers an attractive alternative to mega-suppliers in terms of innovative ability, proximity to the customer and global presence.
With this strategic cooperation, Micron is able to gain quicker access to the overall automotive market.
