Geely has discussed with British officials the idea of introducing electric taxis in London according to the Financial Times.

Geely’s chairman Li Shufu said in an interview for the Financial Times that research was being conducted on the project.
The idea was reportedly presented to London’s mayor Boris Johnson at the Beijing Olympics.
Geely has a technology agreement with London Taxis International to build the cabs for the Chinese market where it will be launched towards the end of the year. LTI Shanghai Automobile plans to produce the cabs in its Shanghai factory, reaching an output of 10,000 vehicles annually. It will sell the cars to Chinese and international taxi operators, hotels and other interested buyers.
