The statement also states that manufacturing will continue in Birmingham.

The full statement reads:

‘GAZ Group president Erik Everhardson said: “Whilst discussions regarding the aquisition of LDV are ongoing, I would like to make it clear that if an agreement is reached we will not ‘lift and shift’ operations. Manufacturing will continue in Birmingham.”‘

The news that GAZ is in discussions with LDV owners Sun Capital on acquiring LDV has sparked speculation that a change of ownership could lead to the transfer of production from LDV’s Washwood Heath, Birmingham, site to Russia.

LDV is a light commercial vehicle producer specialising in delivery vans mainly for the UK market. Russian vehicle producer GAZ also makes light commercial vehicles.
