Ford was the most searched for manufacturer in the manufacturer brand index, the Nissan Qashqai was one of the most popular car models searched for this quarter (searches for ‘nissan qashqai’ have increased 66% year on year) and there was a noticeable trend in the fast moving search terms driving traffic to manufacturer websites for environmentally friendly cars, including the new Fiat 500 and Nissan Leaf, according to Experian Hitwise’s first UK Automotive Quarterly Industry Review.

Another key findings from the first issue, which includes the top 20 most popular automotive manufacturers online, was total visits to the automotive classifieds category increased by 10% during the quarter though, year on year, visits were down 13%.
