Daewoo Cars UK is putting its national advertising account out to tender but current agency DFGW has chosen not to participate.
DFGW won the account in 1994, in time for Daewoo’s launch in the UK in April 1995.
With a multiple award-winning campaign in the lead up to and following the launch of the brand – with such notable catchphrases as “The biggest car company you’ve never heard of ” and “That’ll be the Daewoo” – DFGW’s work was pivotal in the success of the Korean marque’s launch.
Nigel Unwin, marketing services manager of Daewoo Cars, said: “We have been exceptionally pleased with DFGW’s work throughout the last seven years.
“This step bears no reflection on DFGW and simply represents that we feel it is time to invite new agencies to pitch for a new account in a highly desirable market – a common practice in the marketing world.”
